Confined Space Entry (CSE) Training

The Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, section 511(3) states, “a person shall not work in a confined space after January 1, 2013 unless he or she has completed a confined space entry program prescribed by the Commission”.

DMC’s training program is intended to provide the knowledge necessary to reduce the risk of accidents, which result from the lack of knowledge and compliance with standard safe practices, policies and procedures for entry into confined spaces. DMC’s curriculum has been developed and approved as per the WorkplaceNL and meets all requirements of the learning objectives.

Who Should Attend?

This program is intended for all personnel, including supervisors and employees, that may be entering a confined space to complete work.

Module 2: Legislative Roles & Responsibilities of Workplace Parties
Module 3: Confined Space Entry Legislation
Module 4: Roles & Responsibilities of Employers in Developing CSE Programs
Module 5: Roles & Responsibilities of Persons Working in Confined Spaces
Module 6: Safety and Health Hazards of Confined Spaces
Module 7: Recognition, Evaluation & Control of Confined Space Hazards
Module 8: Hazardous Atmospheres and Testing Procedures
Module 9: Control Methods for Health& Safety Hazards found in Confined Spaces
Module 10: Confined Space Entry Work Permit System
Module 11: The Selection, Use, Care, Storage and Maintenance of PPE & Respiratory Equipment
Module 12: Fall Protection
Module 13: CSE Rescue Planning
Module 14: Accident/Incident Reporting & the Basics of A/I Investigation

Practical Exercise

Portions of the practical exercise are incorporated throughout the training with a final practical assessment at the end of the two day program. The final assessment includes:

  • Inspection

  • Entry

  • Retrieval

  • Sample CSE Permit Exercise

  • Sample Hazard Assessment Exercise
